The Batu Caves are most know for a giant, golden statue that stands in front of a most colorful 272 step staircase. The staircase leads to Hindu temples inside limestone caves. Yes, I climbed the staircase without any trouble but avoiding the long-tailed macaques (monkeys) who hang out there was the biggest challenge.
It is a major tourist attraction and is just north of Kuala Lumpur.












Many Hindu devotees carry pots of milk on their heads as offerings to Lord Murugan. Some also shave their heads and apply sandalwood paste, which is often yellow, as part of the rituals associated with the fulfillment of vows.
