On my way home from Nepal, I spent just over a day in Doha. I hired a private city guide who was excellent. He showed me around this magnificent city. It is an oil rich country so the Qataris are privileged to enjoy many benefits from this unique yet small country.
This is the National Museum of Qatar. The design was inspired by the “desert rose quarts crystal.”

Here is the Mina Fish Market. It must be the cleanest fish market in the world. There is not even the smell of fish in any part of the market. It is truly like a museum.

The architecture is modern and crisp.

The city has an outdoor air-conditioning system to make pedestrian areas comfortable when the temperature reaches over 100 degrees F. You can see the grates on the walkways below.

Inside a mosque. Women visitors were given black robes to wear during their visit.
Pigeon Towers – because of the lack of large trees and other habitats for birds these towers were built to bring birds to the area for fertilizers for crops.

Mall and other pedestrian areas in Doha. Note the crystal image – there are many all embedded in the floor of the mall.
