These images were taken during the Holi Festival at Cheekwood Gardens in Nashville on Saturday March 28, 2026.

Holi is a traditional Hindu festival celebrating the arrival of spring, renewal, and the triumph of good over evil. It’s often called the “festival of colors,” marked by the joyful throwing of colored powders—an expression of energy, playfulness, and community. Holi is also about forgiving, reconnecting, laughing loudly, and coloring life with happiness.

This day was full of movement, laughter, and connection. Children and adults alike were swept up in it, sharing small gestures, quiet interactions, and bursts of joy in between the clouds of color.

I found myself drawn less to the spectacle and more to the moments in between—the expressions, the relationships, and the way people experienced it together.

These are a few of those moments.
