We spent Mother’s Day in two cities in Peru. In the morning we were in Pisac where the market was filled with flowers, fruits, and other produce. Everyone was hugging everyone else and sharing flowers and good wishes. It was beautiful.
Confetti was sprinkled everywhere and it created an amazingly festive mood.
The town’s mayors gave wrapped gifts to every mother in the square. Here you can see women lining up to get their gift. And after receiving the gift each woman had her finger dipped in ink to signify that she had indeed received her gift!
Then we traveled through the countryside and visited a small town called Chinchero. Here they celebrate Mother’s Day in a different yet just as festive way.
